A Ritual to Welcome the Astrological New Year
A Powerful Threshold
Maybe the start of the year has never felt like the right time for you to set goals for your year ahead, maybe this is your time to set intentions. This is your beginning.
The Astrological New Year marks a fresh beginning, a moment where the wheel turns and we are invited to consciously step into what’s next.
This is mirrored by the Autumn Equinox, a sacred pause point where light and dark are held in perfect balance. A time to harvest what has been, to let go with intention, and to plant seeds for the season ahead.
On 21st March, we will gather in community to honour this threshold through one of yoga’s most ancient and transformative rituals: 108 Sun Salutations.
Why We Practice This Together
Practicing 108 Sun Salutations at the turning of the Astrological New Year is a way to:
Clear energetic and emotional residue from the past cycle
Build tapas (inner fire) with conscious intention
Step into the new year feeling grounded, aligned, and connected
Build disapline to move through a physical challenge together
As the season shifts outward into autumn, this practice gently draws us inward — asking us to listen, refine, and recommit to what truly matters.
What to Expect
This immersive experience will be mindfully guided, grounded in tradition and accessible for modern bodies.
We will move in waves, with conscious pauses and options throughout
You will be guided to work with your own breath and capacity
Modifications and moments of rest are not only welcomed but are encouraged
This is not a race. It is a ritual.
The room will be held with care, reverence, and a strong sense of collective energy because there is something uniquely powerful about moving through 108 together.
Who This Is For
This event is for you if you:
Are craving a meaningful way to mark the Astrological New Year
Love yoga as a practice beyond the physical
Want to challenge yourself while staying deeply connected to your body
Feel called to practice in ritual, intention, and community
You do not need to have practiced 108 Sun Salutations before. You simply need to arrive with openness and respect for your own experience.
Why 108 is considered sacred in yoga:
1 represents unity, the self, the Divine. 0 represents the completness of our practice, the emptiness, the void. and 8 represents infinity, eternity the universe. so the number 108 bridges those three things for connection to the infinite universe.
There are 108 beads on a mala, representing a complete cycle of mantra repetition and focused awareness
In yogic cosmology, 108 symbolises completeness , the union of the individual self with universal consciousness
It’s said there are 108 energy channels (nadis) converging at the heart centre
The practice of repeating something 108 times is a way of burning through distraction, softening the ego, and cultivating devotion (bhakti) and discipline (tapas)
Moving 108 times becomes a form of ritual purification , not symbolic only, but embodied through breath, effort, and presence
