Midwinter Yin in Reservoir - Welcoming the Inner Light This Winter

Friday 3 July 2026 | 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Oshun Yoga Studio, Reservoir

Winter is often seen as a season of slowing down, turning inward, and resting. Yet hidden within the darkest days of the year is a quiet reminder that the light always returns.

This July, join Naarm-based yoga teacher Bec Dundas for a special Midwinter Yin Yoga Workshop in Reservoir, an evening designed to honour the season, nourish the nervous system, and welcome the return of the light within.

Embracing the Wisdom of Winter

In many traditions, midwinter marks an important turning point. While the days may still feel dark and cool, the return of longer daylight hours begins. It is a time of reflection, renewal, and gentle hope.

Just as nature moves through cycles, so do we.

Midwinter offers an opportunity to pause, release what no longer serves us, and reconnect with what truly matters as we move through the second half of the year.

Why Yin Yoga Is Perfect for Winter

Yin Yoga invites us to slow down and listen.

Unlike more dynamic styles of yoga, Yin focuses on long-held, supported postures that encourage deep release through the body while calming the mind.

The benefits of Yin Yoga can include:

  • Reduced stress and nervous system tension

  • Improved flexibility and mobility

  • Greater emotional balance

  • Increased mindfulness and self-awareness

  • Deep relaxation and restoration

  • Enhanced energy flow throughout the body

During winter, these practices can be particularly supportive as we naturally crave warmth, stillness, and rest.

A Heart-Awakening Practice with Bec Dundas

Drawing on her extensive experience in yoga, restorative practice, mindfulness, and creative movement, Bec will guide participants through a carefully curated 90-minute Yin Yoga experience.

Together, you'll explore a heart-opening sequence designed to:

  • Welcome the return of the light

  • Set meaningful affirmations for the months ahead

  • Release old habits and stagnant energy

  • Create space for clarity, renewal, and growth

  • Cultivate a sense of inner warmth and connection

Held in a safe and nurturing environment, this practice invites you to soften, unwind, and reconnect with your inner landscape.

More Than Just a Yoga Class

This workshop is about more than stretching the body.

It is an opportunity to slow down in community, reflect on your journey, and honour the seasonal shift occurring both around and within you.

Following the practice, participants are invited to stay for chai, cacao, and connection, creating space for meaningful conversations and shared warmth during the winter season.

Accessible for All Levels

No previous Yin Yoga experience is required.

Whether you are completely new to yoga or have an established practice, this workshop offers a welcoming and supportive environment for all levels, abilities, and stages of life.

The focus is not on performance, but on presence.
